What it is
Therapeutic ultrasound sends high-frequency sound waves into soft tissue, producing warming at a depth that a heat pack cannot reach. It is used to improve tissue extensibility before manual work and to support healing in slower-recovering structures.
Like electrical stimulation, this is a supporting service. It is used when the tissue involved makes it the right tool, not as a default add-on.
The Session
What the session is like.
-
Gel applied
A conductive gel lets the sound head make proper contact.
-
Slow, continuous movement
The head is kept moving over the area. You may feel mild warmth, or nothing at all.
-
Straight into treatment
Usually followed immediately by manual therapy while the tissue is warm.
